Peer Mentor Program Mentor Application
Miner Evolution Peer Mentor Program Application for Mentor Position
***Review of applications will begin August 6, 2020 and will continue until all positions are filled.
The Miner Evolution Peer Mentor Program is an opportunity for students in their first year at Missouri S&T to receive support from successful returning students through mentoring. Mentors serve as a supportive role model and resource person to incoming first year and transfer students. Mentors will be available as an approachable resource to respond to incoming students’ needs by actively listening, providing relevant information, and making appropriate referrals. Staff in the Student Diversity Initiatives will be available to mentors as a resource throughout the semester. First-year and transfer students engage with student mentors and the S&T community through participation in Student Diversity Initiatives events and events specifically for participants in the program throughout the year.
Mentor Program
Miner Evolution Peer Mentors are student volunteers. Key incentives include:
• Possibility for experiential learning credit upon approval from academic advisor
• $500 dollars awarded after completion of mentor training for the fall semester and $500.00 awarded after mentor training update for the Spring semester. The trainings will take place through Zoom. The dates and times will be determined by the availability of the selected mentors.

• Meet twice (2 times) a month with mentee (this can be through any means (these can be virtual) that work for both the mentor and mentee)
• Attend either one (1) SDI event or Miner Evolution designated specific event a month (these can be virtual events)
• Complete participation survey each month and a semester debrief session
Qualifications
• 2.5 Cumulative GPA
• Must have completed at least two (2) semesters on campus
